5 year-old Quaden Brayles of Australia struggled with the label of dwarfism until the day a family friend introduced him to a dog with the same condition.
Buddy Boy, a Shih Tzu who shares Quaden’s diagnosis of achondroplasia, gave Quaden the confidence he needed to be proud of himself and his short stature.
“Quaden now proudly accepts that he’s got dwarfism, because Buddy’s given him that reason to think that it’s cool.”
“He tells everyone, ‘My dog has dwarfism like me,’ and it’s the first time we’ve ever, in Quaden’s five years of life, heard him say the word, because we are not allowed to say dwarfism or achondroplasia,” says his mom, Yarraka Bayles.
