Tourists visiting a Canadian Eskimo dog sanctuary in Churchill, Manitoba, were treated to a rare sight when a polar bear wandered up to one of the dogs and began gently petting it. The video quickly went viral, and it does seem to be a beautiful sight. But there’s a darker story behind it.
The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) investigated, and discovered that the property owner had been feeding polar bears to purposely draw tourists to his location. The bears attacked and killed one of his dogs one night recently when he did not leave them food. The incident has raised serious concerns among animal advocates.
