Meet Blue, a service dog in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She works at Lowes.
How’s that? It starts with Blue’s person, Owen, who suffered a traumatic brain injury as a teenager. Blue helps Owen through his daily life, and the two are inseparable.
Being partnered with a service dog made finding steady work difficult for Owen. However, the Lowe’s hiring team at a job fair saw through the potential challenges of a dog in the workplace. They were willing to take on both Owen and Blue, and gave only one major condition of employment—Blue needed to be in uniform!
Owen and Blue are well-known in their community, so their new role in customer service is a perfect fit.
“Owen’s been in this community for a very long time, so a lot of the customers who shop in our store know him,” said the store manager.“The customers are happy that he actually has a job, and they’re happy that we took the dog in with him.”
