Our dogs are a part of our family, and we’d do anything to keep them safe.
That’s why, in honor of National Pet Day, we’re excited to spread the word about the Nextdoor Pet Directory, which allows neighbors to build a directory of all of the pets in their area.
At Rover, we’re passionate about anything that makes pet parenthood easier and safer. The Pet Directory fits right under that umbrella. We like to think of it as dog people helping dog people—which what we’re all about.
The concept is both awesome and simple. Neighbors upload photos and info about their pets to the directory. This includes quirks, identifying information, and fun facts that help your neighbors virtually meet your pet. If the unthinkable should happen and your dog slips out the door or through a crack in the fence, you’ll be able to notify your neighbors quickly using the directory.
On average, lost pets are recovered within a two-mile radius of their home, which means mobilizing your neighbors is key to return a missing pet. Not surprisingly, hundreds of thousands of neighbors already use Nextdoor every day to reunite lost pets with their owners, and the Pet Directory will help them do that more quickly.
Plus, when you pass a neighbor on your daily dog walk, chances are you’ll already know their dog’s name. Talk about an easy way to break the ice.
