Instagram Post for Late Dog Becomes a Movement—and Tennis Ball Pool Party

One man’s memorial for his beloved dog has turned into a viral giving sensation. When Chris posted a memorial for his dog Everything (yep, that’s the name) on Instagram, he offered to send anyone who asked a tennis ball to enjoy with their dog. He wanted to share Everything’s story and passion for fetch with dogs and dog lovers around the world. His post quickly spread far and wide. One follower was so inspired by the idea, they took it to the next level.

On Jan 23 I’ll mark 2 years without my best friend. I purchased 100 tennis balls last week. I plan on sending them to anyone who wants one. I hope that all the people who get a ball from me will use it to spend some quality time with their best friend. The folks at Dan’s Pet Care collected 4,000 tennis balls for a very special purpose. Dan’s team wanted to create a viral video to spread Everything’s memory, and to share tennis balls with shelter dogs so that they could make wonderful memories with their new families.

In the video, tennis balls are dumped into a swimming pool and two rescued Golden retrievers have their own pool party with them. Dan’s Pet Care will mail a bag of tennis balls to dog rescues anywhere in the US just by tagging the organization in the comments to the video post on Facebook.
