This week, Rover spent an awesome day helping San Francisco SPCA celebrate their 145th birthday at their Anniversary Carnival! We’re proud to announce that the San Francisco SPCA has become one of our Sit-a-Dog, Save-a-Life partners and we’re wagging our tails for all the great work they’ve done over the years. This wonderful organization gives love, homes, and second chances to the dogs of San Francisco, and betters the lives of their two-legged companions.
At Rover, we know how much San Franciscans love their dogs! In a recent survey by Rover, we found that 75% of San Francisco dog owners identified themselves at “Pet Parents” rather than dog owners. Not to mention nearly half of the owners surveyed said they got their furry family member from a rescue group like the SF SPCA! Tech savvy San Franciscans are also ready to join the SF SPCA in its new modern era, with 30% of dog owners admitting their dog has a social media presence – that’s almost twice the national average! Dog lovers in the Bay Area are also turning to online platforms like Rover to help them spend more time with dogs, make money, and support local rescue groups.
Check out some of our awesome San Francisco sitters who support SF SPCA!
Leana T. was excited to help kick-off the foster puppy program at SF SPCA in 2012 “I replied immediately and signed up to help foster one of our first few litters of pups.” Shortly after, Leana became a Rover sitter! “I worked at a dog resort and spa for a year, and wondered if there was a better option for dog owners. I looked around on the internet, and stumbled upon Rover. Working at the dog resort didn’t give me the one-on-one time that I wanted with the dogs, but sitting through Rover gives me that opportunity.”Leana encourages other dog lovers to get involved with dog-sitting or volunteer work, “ I believe that when working with animals, you receive more than you give!”
Remo C. got involved with SF SPCA when he became a puppy foster parent! Remo cared for numerous pups and worked to help them find forever homes. Having loved dogs all his life, Remo jumped at the opportunity to become a Rover sitter when a close friend told him about the website. He loves that Rover allows pet parents to know that their dog “will enjoy a nice vacation in a wonderful home, with a person that will give them all the love and attention they need.” Remo considers caring for dogs a great opportunity to give back “because animals give you unconditional love, no matter what!”
We’re excited about this new partnership and wish the SF SPCA many more years of life changing animal rescues!
