Golden Retriever Sports Irresistible Grin After Surgery (and the Good Drugs)

For Dog People

Oscar the golden retriever recently had some non-dangerous fatty tumors removed. After his successful surgery, his mom Sarah couldn’t help but snap a few photos of his goofy blissed-out grin on the car ride home.

When Sarah shared a photo to Twitter with a witty caption, the internet went wild with equal parts sympathy and laughter.

“I find the internet is nicest when it relates to dogs,” Sarah told Buzzfeed.

We couldn’t agree more. Oscar is recuperating nicely, with lots of TLC from his cat brother Chomper.

Sarah’s original tweet has over 100 thousand shares and 374 thousand likes. Responders are sharing not only their well wishes, but also photos of their own dogs under the influence. In a perfect world we wouldn’t need to see our dogs on painkillers, but it’s pretty great that we can help them feel comfortable when surgery is necessary.
