When you’re the fat cat in town, everyone knows it. Just ask Fat Fred. The larger-than-life tabby cat has achieved viral fame for the informational signage posted in the window of Furry Friends Animal Hospital in Harvey, Louisiana, where he lives.
Walking by a vet clinic when I saw this sign…
So fat is Fred that people frequently ask if he’s pregnant. It’s not a thing, though, because Fred is a boy. To help dispel some of the rumors running around town about Fat Fred, Furry Friends Animal Hospital set the record straight with a humorous note in its window:
“This is Fat Fred.
He is a boy.
He is not pregnant.
He weighs 28 pounds.
Yes, he is on a diet.
No, it is not working well.”
Diets Are for Losers
A diet included a new automated feeder. Here’s how much Fat Fred is not enjoying it. His inflated sense of humor goes along with his hefty proportions as he poses next to a plastic skeletal dog in protest of his human-imposed diet.
And even though Fat Fred might hate his trimmed-down food portions, he does love people. He loves them so much that the signs in the clinic window invite people to come on in and meet Fat Fred to pet him:
“He sits on small children
And loves being scratched near his hips.”
Then again, you may want to keep your children away until Fat Fred loses a couple of pounds.
Extra Small Models Available
Though, Fat Fred isn’t up for adoption, “we do have smaller models available,” according to the signage.
Take T.Rex, for example. She may be smaller in stature than Fat Fred, but she will offer up lots of love to the family that wants to adopt her.
As for Fat Fred, he’s going to continue to let it all hang out.
I Am Not Amused
And, of course, he will continue to stare down anyone with that “Just say no to diets” look.
It’s OK, Fat Fred, we love you in all your chunky glory, inflated ego and all.
