Charlie and Theo, a handsome pair of miniature Schnauzers, recently got themselves good and lost on a hike on Red Pike fell, a popular spot in the Lake District of England.
Though the dogs were familiar with the mountainous trails, a thick fog blanketed the area that day. The weather is blamed for them getting separated from their family’s teenage son who frequently walks the dogs in the area.
Just moments after being found
A huge rescue effort was mounted, with over 120 people on foot combing the area. Not only that, but drone aircraft helped search from above over 4 days.
In a final, brilliant attempt to lure in the dogs, the family brought out a barbecue grill to the last place Charlie and Theo had been seen, and fired up the dogs’ favorite sausages.
“If there was one food they were going to come back for, it was sausages.”
“They absolutely love sausages. They have them every Sunday for breakfast, so if there was one food they were going to come back for, it was sausages,” the family told The Telegraph.
Father and son
Charlie, 7, and Theo, 10 months, are father and son, leading their family to joke about them enjoying a Father’s Day getaway together. According to their mom, the pair suffered no injuries, but did sleep away the next few days safe at home.
