A fearless dog named Yassie recently came across a tiger shark while walking along a beach on Mabuiag Island off the coast of Australia. Yassie couldn’t resist running into the surf to check out the shark basking in the shallows, while her panicked family tried to call her back. Meanwhile, a bystander caught the whole incredible encounter on video.
Luckily for Yassie, the shark seemed just as curious about the dog as she was in him. Yassie circled the shark, who eventually swam off, much to everyone’s relief. And now thanks to her big stunt, Yassie is world-famous.
Fearless Dog Chases Away Shark
According to locals, some fisherman do train dogs to catch small sharks and stingrays off the reefs, but a shark of this size is just too powerful for a dog to tangle with. Keeping dogs on leash around wildlife is safest for your dog, wildlife, and the ecosystem.
