From a shocking 180 pounds to a trim 58, Buddy’s life has completely turned around. Thanks to the Hull’s Haven Border Collie Rescue, two fantastic foster moms, and a loving forever family committed to loving and caring for this special dog, Buddy has a wonderful future ahead of him.
Buddy’s ‘before’ picture
Buddy was a victim of love. He was released to the rescue by the family of his elderly caregivers, who loved him dearly and spoiled him almost to death. At 180 pounds, Buddy could barely walk a few steps, let alone run or play.
Buddy’s progress
A strict diet of prescription weight management kibble and fruits and veggies helped Buddy lose an average of 2-3 pounds per week. Once Buddy had lost some of the weight, regular exercise was introduced, and soon his playful side came out.
Buddy ready for weightloss surgery and ready for a new home
Once Buddy had slimmed down to 80 pounds, he underwent surgery to remove excess skin. The extra skin around his haunches was seriously slowing him down and was prone to infections.
The post that helped Buddy find his new family
Last December, Buddy was trim and healthy enough to be ready for a forever home. This Facebook post from his rescue organization garnered lots of local media attention and helped him find his new family, who are inspired by his impressive journey.
