Happy National Hugging Day! It seems there’s a day for everything (and there basically is), but there is perhaps no day more adorable than National Hugging Day—especially when it involves hugs from our furriest friends. Hugs are the best always—when you’re happy, when you’re sad, when your team won the thing—and when our dogs take that snuggle sesh to the next level and wrap their cute little paws around us, well, there’s just nothing better. To celebrate, we rounded up some of the warm-and-fuzziest dog hugs of all. Hug yours, guys. Stat.
150 Pounds of Love
The thing that’s really great about a Newfoundland is that they weigh the same as an adult human—up to 150 pounds! So you know when you get a hug from one, it’s going to be really real.
Golden Hug
Do you SEE the look of straight love in this sweet boy’s eyes? “This is my owner, and I love her forever and ever.” Extra points for arms around the neck, too.
Down and Dirty
Equally cute as a human-to-dog hug? A dog-to-dog hug. This one’s probably in the midst of a riveting game of fetch.
Ear to Ear
That thing when your dog closes her eyes and does that ear-to-ear smile. BRB, melting.
Beach Buds
Just a couple of bros, posing for a pic in front of their playground for the day: a big ol’ lake with lots and lots of sticks. Anything better? Nope.
Must. Hug.
One of these guys was not prepared for the hug. But once you make that first move? So, so worth it.
Get Low
Little guys can give love, too. Case in point? This bulldog, whose owner was kind enough to dip down low for a next-level embrace. A-dor-a-ble.
Pure Joy
If this lab’s face isn’t the epitome of pure joy, we don’t know what is. This is all we want, ever.
Fine, MOM
This is the hug you have to give your sibling because your mom says so. Probably after you ate his video game or something.
Goin’ for the Kiss
That thing when there’s a total miscommunication in the whole hug/kiss/handshake exchange. Dogs have it too, guys.
Fence Friends
And, finally, maybe the best picture of them all—a hug SO good, not even a fence could stop ’em. The world needs more fence hugs.
OK, Rover readers—we know you have photos of your dogs hugging each other, your dog hugging your niece, your dog hugging your cat, and we want to see them! Share your faves in the comments below. And don’t forgive to give someone (dog or human) a hug today!
