A very good boy named Howard took home the ‘Best in Rescue’ trophy this week on the Hallmark Channel’s second annual American Rescue Dog Show. Howard won a $25,000 donation to his rescue, the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society.

The dapper basset and pit bull mix advanced to the final judging round thanks to his win in the ‘Short N Sweet’ category, especially for dogs short in stature and big on smiles. Other categories ranged from ‘Best Underbite’ to ‘Best Belly Rubs.’
Looking good, Howard!
Overall, 71 rescue dogs competed in 10 categories. Winners brought home cash prizes for the rescue organizations who gave them a second chance at life. How cool is that?
