5 Tips to End Each Booking on a High Note
All good things must come to an end, and it’s time for your Rover dog to go back to their owner. If a dog goes home happy—or if pet parents come home to a happy dog—you’re much more likely to receive glowing reviews and repeat bookings. So what can you do to ensure you leave a great last impression? We’re happy to share some tips that’ll help ensure your business thrives, whether you’re offering pet sitting, day care, or dog walking (or all of the above)!
Bathe and Groom
If your Rover dog got a little (or a lot) dirty while in your care, be sure to clean them up before their owner comes to get them. For minor messes, a good brushing helps make a dog presentable. However, a really dirty dog needs a bath. You can offer it for free to surprise the pet owner—or, if you talked about it with the pet parent before the stay, you can charge extra for it. As with all other Rover add-ons, be sure to be upfront about the cost before the booking begins.
Gather Their Things
If you’re taking care of your Rover dog in your home, make sure all the dog’s belongings are together and ready to go home with them. Presenting a neat package when the dog gets picked up will give you a reputation as organized and it also prevents extra trips for you or the owner later on.
Write a Quick Thank-You Note
A brief note of thanks will let the owner know how much you care, and ensure that you’re remembered. You can even put your business card in the note so the owner can contact you directly from your profile the next time they need a sitter. (Don’t have business cards? Order them here.) Even if it’s just a short note, it’ll go a long way.
Ask for Feedback (and a Review)
Feel free to ask the owners how they felt about the stay and if you could do anything differently. This is also the time to ask them if they could write a review for your Rover profile. Great reviews help other owners select you for their dog sitting needs, and they also remind repeat clients why you’re their favorite dog sitter. Besides, we think it’s a great self-esteem boost to read all the glowing things your clients have to say about you.
Tidy Up the Owner’s Home
If you’re watching your Rover dog in the owner’s home, make sure to tidy up before you leave. A neat and tidy home will make the owners even more comfortable that they left their dog in your care. Make this easy for yourself by doing this as you go along, especially if your Rover dog has any accidents. Of course, making sure your own home is neat and tidy before a client comes over will also leave a great impression.
You want to go above and beyond for your clients, which means making sure their dog goes home as clean and comfortable as possible. No matter what services you offer, making sure that the end of your stay goes smoothly is a great way to ensure your dog sitting business thrives.
