I live and work in the Loop and have a hybrid work model with my employer, I can opt to go into the office (walkable from my apartment) or stay home. So if you're located in the neighborhood, it is no trouble at all for me to drop in or dog-sit for an extended stay in your own home (where your dog will feel safest and most relaxed).

I am available for drop-in visits, occasional walks, and extended in-home dog sitting stays (however I do no board dogs in my own home, I find it is much more effective to allow the pups to stay in a familiar environment).

Information Troy E. G. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know the age and exercise level of the dog first and foremost. Some pups are pretty wild while the more mild seniors simply want company, and I'm fine with both. Additionally I would like to know how well he/she gets along with other dogs and if they have any little quirks to their personality that would be helpful for me to be aware of so that I don't get any unpleasant surprises.

A typical day

Please note: I'm only accepting clients who live relatively close to downtown or near to public transit. In doing so I'm looking to make the situation mutually beneifical for everyone! Extra house-sitting services You bet! I come from a large family where there is ALWAYS stuff that needs doing around the house. As the oldest kid in my family I was responsible from an early age and made to look after my siblings and help keep things running smoothly. So if you need plants watered, the mail brought in, the lawn mowed, or even housework like vacuuming - heck if you leave money I'll even go on a grocery run for you. I'm here to help you out and get things done.

Dog's Best Friend

Pet care experience

Hi, my name's Troy. Quick back-story: Growing up I didn't have a teddy bear, I had a stuffed dog named buddy who was/is the best toy I ever had. Throughout my whole childhood, I ALWAYS wanted a dog, but my folks weren't into it. As an adult, I'll show your dog the same attention and respect as the dog I always craved as a kid - I do this not only because I love dogs but also so I will be prepared to be a top-notch dog-owner when I finally have the means to get my own pup! I started dog-sitting through this site when I first moved to Chicago as an undergrad student TWELVE years ago (holy smokes). I've hopped off and on this platform in the years since then, whenever I miss having regular dog-time I reactivate this profile, so I can scratch that itch and make connections with my local pet-parent community. So until the time comes when I decide to get my own dog, I'm just looking to have a good time living in Chicago and find my niche doing what I do best... and what I'm best at is taking care of your dog! What experience do I have? TONS! I love taking care of dogs and have been doing so since I started babysitting at age 14. In my eighteen years of dog care-taking experience, I've looked after COUNTLESS pups of all shapes and sizes. (See my photos to check out just some of the other dogs I've watched in Chicago over the years). I have experience walking, playing, and exercising dogs in addition to giving them medication and cleaning up after them (I mean REALLY cleaning up after them - even when they're destructive or sick). Basically, I'm prepared for any dog out there and up to the challenge! Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover since birth. My folks never let me have my own dog as a kid (which naturally only made me want one even more) so in order to alleviate my disappointment my parents started setting me up to take care of the neighbors' dogs. From there things took off, and I've been watching over dogs ever since. My experience administering medication Absolutely. I have experience with this as well, any kind of chewable tablet or pill that your canine requires is alright with me. However, I am uncomfortable around needles should your dog need some that extensive, so please let me know ahead of time.

Troy and his girlfriend watched our 1 year old pup Ellie while we were out of town for a few days. Troy made sure to meet Ellie before hand and make sure she is comfortable with him. Throughout the stay he updated us with pictures and how she was doing. He left our place clean and Ellie seemed happy. Would use again!

Troy was great with Sydney. We recently moved to a new city and he made sure my dog felt comfortable when I had to take my first work trip. He communicated regularly and sent photos while I was gone. I recommend using Troy if you need someone to care for your pets as much as you do.

Troy was excellent. He took great care of our pup Bennet while we were away. It was our first time leaving him with a sitter so peace of mind that he would be taken care of was extremely important. Troy went above and beyond to ensure that Bennet had a ton of fun while we were gone. He kept us updated with entertaining and informative reports about how Bennet was doing everyday. We will definitely work with him again for any future trips.

This was our very first time using Rover for overnight stay and Troy did a great job with our 6yo chocolate lab! He was very transparent upfront about any potential conflicts or nuances to his stay that may have been different from the norm (they weren't BTW), so we felt like he initiated our experience with utmost trust-building. Our girl has a hind leg injury and needed someone to play it by ear in terms of her activity level and managing her energy and we could tell when we got home that she was very well taken care of by Troy. The house was left in good condition and he was available for communication the whole time we were gone (with pics) when we asked. An all-around professional experience, and we could tell our girl was perfectly comfortable with her experience as well!
