Hello! My name is Steve and I am a true dog lover! I have raised, rescued, trained and loved dogs for over forty years. I’m retired military / retired Red Cross. I’m extremely responsible I truly enjoy working with pets and it makes me very happy to take care of other peoples’ pets while they are away. You need to know that someone is caring for your pets as much as you do while attending to more important business. That way you can relax during an activity or enjoy your vacation activities. If you need someone like that, I can be that person for you! Just because you go on vacation, doesn't mean your dog should get left out or kenneled in a dog run! How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

I have always loved dogs. I believe dogs are people that just happen to come in different packages and are FAMILY MEMBERS! They truly do love unconditionally and expect nothing in return. Growing up we had both cats and dogs in our house. We started with 1 Terrier mix, and then added a Siamese cat. As an adult, I have raised, rescued and trained everything from German Shepherds, Cocker Spaniels, Labs, Weimeraners, and most recently
three Dalmatians. As is normal in life, I have lost them one by one and felt the absolute terror and heartbreak that comes with such an experience. I would do anything to make sure that my own dog, Abby, has a full and happy life because she really does make a difference in mine. She is the definition of happiness and such a wonderful addition to my family!

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

It is important to know about a dogs’ background, such as where they came from, their personality, education, as well as the history of care. If it is a rescue dog, we may need to take extra special precautions to make sure that the dog feels as comfortable as possible. I would also like to know if the dog has any special needs that need to be met. I want to try to keep with the same routine that a dog is used to, in order to make them feel more at ease and comfortable at home while the parents are away. I would prefer an initial consultation to ensure I will get along with your pet.

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Absolutely, I always have three modes of transportation at my fingertip and can get anywhere I need to be.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

I am completely comfortable with giving any types of medications as needed. I can give shots, mix meds with food, or anything else needed. I will just want to make sure I know exact doses and instructions for how to properly administer the medicine. It is important to always know a vets phone number, just in case of any type of reactions to the medicine may occur. I am close to two veterinary hospitals in Indianapolis and personally use “Swengel Animal Hospital VCA” – Indianapolis and “Angel Animal Clinic”, Dr. Anna Piper DVM – Greenwood

What services are you able to provide?

• I am willing to bathe your pet for an additional $10 fee
• I will walk your pet / dog up to 1 mile per day
• Make sure your pet / dog is properly fed and watered with your choice of food
• Play with your pet
• Get your mail in if needed
• Bring my dog, Abby, (1 ½ year old female Dalmatian over to play with your pet / dog
• I use the American Red Cross’ “Pet First Aid” method of first aid / CPR
• If requested, I may be able to stay in your home 24/7 while you are away on a trip
• I can also take photos of your pet
• Keep daily reportcards
