Mother/Son team to take care of Rover

My 13 year old son and I live in a duplex with a large back and side yard, fully fenced in, in which your Rover can run around.

We currently have a mixed breed puppy (born 12/1/11 & fully vaccinated) that gets along with all dogs as well as a 2 year old cat that gets along, or shall I say pretty much ignores dogs that come over to our house :) We're close to three dog parks as well as the SF Bay Trail and get our dog to one of these places several times a week.

I was a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind where I trained 4 dogs on your everyday basic needs (sit/stay/heal/down/etc) so have some experience with training dogs.

We live in the Berkeley area and would love to have your four-legged family member stay with us while you're out of town.

I have been a dog lover my entire life, having 2-3 dogs most of the time. In fact there's never been a time where I have NOT had a dog :) I loved dogs so much that I was a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind as well where I trained 4 dogs, two of which became working Guide Dogs. I currently have one ball of energy dog at home who my son swears I love more than I love him :)

I'd like to know about their personality because every dog has one. What time do they normally get fed, do they like to play fetch, do they prefer to run, do they socialize well with other dogs at the dog park, do they come on command, and most importantly do they get along with cats. My cat will end up ignoring the dog but I'd like to know ahead of time how your dog reacts around cats.

I own a small-suv so should anything happen while they're in my care I can quickly get them to an emergency vet.

Yes, though I've only had to give pills to me dogs. I've never had to inject anything in them.

My son is home during the summer time and I'm home in the evenings and on the weekends so during the summertime there will be someone home during the majority of the day with them and all day on the weekends.

The yard is fully fenced in with some small bushes around the fences. It's completely flat so there's plenty of running room back there :)

My dog sleeps wherever I sleep which your dogs are more than welcome to do. Some weekend nights I've fallen asleep on the couch and my dog sleeps on his blanket right next to me, but most nights he's on his blanket in my room. I would hope your dog would come over with a bed or blanket of his/her own so they have something they're used to and they can sleep with us.

Depending on the day I typically head to the dog park at the Ohlone greenway once or twice a week. We also head to the dog park behind Albany high school at least once a week and there's an area along the SF Bay Trail where I take my dog each week to run in and out of the water. We always get to Pt. Isabel once on the weeknds as well so my dog is at a dog park 3-4 times a week. I try to rotate parks so the park doesn't become stale for my dog.
