Hi there! I've been working as a vet tech/assistant off and on for over 10 years. I'm currently employed as a veterinary assistant at a local clinic and am in my 2nd year of Nursing school for people, lol. I am looking to earn a little money in my spare time and would love to do it by caring for your fur babies! Having worked in large animal, small animal, and exotic pet hospitals, you can trust that all of your pets are safe in my care. My own pets include a cat named Squish, 2 dogs named Luna and Hershey, a mouse named Pip, and a horse named Wyatt. I have references available on request!
I have worked in the animal industry almost my entire life (26 years, btw). I have done everything from be a kennel girl where I did nothing but walk dogs and clean runs to a surgery tech where I prepped dogs for surgery, monitored their anesthesia, and even scrubbed in to assist from time to time. I worked my way from being a stable hand to barn manager during my time in the horse industry. I went to a small agricultural university where I worked closely with the faculty veterinarian. I frequently assisted her with the care of the horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, goats, and a very temperamental llama.
I have always loved animals and my family always had dogs growing up. I wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as I can remember. Life took me down a different path but I will always have pets of my own. My own dogs have kept me company (and likely sane, lol) many times over the years. The least I can do is return their loyalty.
I have no breed preferences and can assure you I hold no prejudices towards any. (as a vet tech, I've been bitten by far more chihuahuas than I have pit bulls) As far as what I would want to know about your pets...important information would include their diet and any medications or treatments they need. Any important commands they respond to. Favorite toys and treats they're allowed to have. Bad habits I should prevent them from doing. And of course, their favorite spot to be rubbed.
I have a brand new vehicle and back-up vehicles available to me if need be. My main ride is an SUV so in the event your pet needs to be transported, I can easily fit any size dog.
Yes...I get paid to do it, lol. I have yet to find a dog I can't somehow get a pill down and I'm completely comfortable giving injections, i.e. insulin.
Sure! No problem. If you have other pets that need care too, I'd be more than willing. I even clean litter boxes and horse stalls if need be.
It depends on my schedule and the pet's. I assure you that each pet will receive the same care and love that I show my own. I will take time to love on them and show them the attention they deserve.
