I have extensive dog care and training experience fostering over 150 dogs through Puget Sound area no-kill shelters & pet rescues. I have also training under a highly respected pet dog trainer. I am an outgoing, creative and trustworthy person with an optimistic view on the world. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for animals and their welfare.

I am a trainer’s assistant to Brie Fox, CPDT-KA at Doggy Haven Resort. We use positive reinforcement training methods, teaching dogs’ manners and behaviors without pain or fear.
-VOLUNTEER | Homeward Pet Adoption Center
Homeward is one of Washington's largest NO-KILL shelter. I donate several hours each week loving, caring and working with dogs & cats as well as assisting in administrative duties. I also donate a portion of my Rover Dog Sitting earnings to Homeward.
-VOLUNTEER | Ginger’s Pet Rescue
Working alongside other volunteers, I interview and assess potential adoptive parents, making certain the dogs are placed in the best possible homes. I advise new dog parents as well as other foster parents in all aspects of dog ownership and handling.

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

I have been a pet lover, especially dogs for as long as I can remember! Ted was my first dog. He was a large, sweet, lovable Collie. Ted was with us until I was 7 years old.
As an adult I have worked with local pet rescues, fostering over 150 dogs, loving, training and caring for all my foster kids!

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

I have no breed restrictions.....Rescues are my favorite breed!

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

I drive a very reliable Toyota Yaris hatchback.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

I am American Red Cross Pet CPR & First Aid Certified.
I am very experienced and comfortable administering pet medications & redressing wounds.

Are you willing to do additional tasks at my home while I'm away
(e.g., water plants, bring in the mail)?

I am happy to take care of other pets (ie fish, cats) while you are away. I will also bring in mail, water plants, bring garbage to the curb, etc.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

On overnight visits, each pet receives a minimum of 30 minute twice a day. This could be feeding, giving medication, going on walks, jogs or playing fetch. It depends on you & your pet's preferences & needs.
Walks (or potty breaks) are typically 20 minutes on leash or in your fenced yard.
Additional time/visits can be arranged.

Missy watched our Catahoula during a four day vacation out of town. He is normally pretty nervous when we're away and suffers from some residual separation anxiety. Imagine how happy we were when we arrived back home found him relaxed and mellow from playing with Missy all weekend.

Missy watched our two older Labs at our house this month, and we had a terrific experience. She 'gets' dogs, was extremely conscientious about ensuring our dogs were comfortable during the hot weather, and had no problem managing the many medications/bandage issues required by one of our dogs.

I haven't owned a dog in over 30 yrs and recently rescued a furry little friend about 4 months ago. He likes to run off and play "Catch me if you can". Which wasn't much fun for me trying to keep finding him. I feared the worst because I live near a very busy street. I asked Missy for some advice on what I can do to get him to come back home. I have used Missy a couple of times for pet/house sitting, and she has always left my house clean, and what's more important is my Golden Retriever seems like she didn't even miss me! My Golden is well exercised, cared for, and truely loved by Missy!

Missy is AMAZING with my pug-mix, Bonnie. Bonnie is a rescue dog from a puppy-mill and was absolutely terrified of people. Missy worked with her, first just in the kitchen for short periods of time, they eventually moved to the yard.... and now Bonnie is incredible on leash walks and even enjoys going to the dog park! The difference is night & day. Oh! and Missy house-trained her! Bonnie gets to be a fun-loving, normal family dog because of Missy. A thousand thanks! (Collapse)

I can tell you all that you will not find a more caring and qualified individual for your pets than Missy. She learned very early to have a great respect for all life and especially took a stand for all things that were inhumanely treated. Which led to her passion for 'rescue'. In her efforts to give her 'rescues' the best chance to live without fear she learned what their needs were. She developed knowledge's and experiences that brought her to an educated understanding of animals, (dogs particularly). The love and compassion are her nature, that teamed with the needs of the animals have allowed her to take her passions to now train and inform. You will no doubt enjoy her energy and integrity.
