I grew up right over the hill in Moraga as a life long animal lover. I was fortunate enough to be in 4-H raise animals of all shapes and sizes. I have had rescued Northern dogs (Husky, Malamute, etc) since 1991. I currently have 3 very Malamute/Husky mixes. My dogs are my family. I am a foster and volunteer with Northern California Sled Dog Rescue (NorSled) and Oakland Animal Services (OAS). I board one dog at a time (or two if from the same home) to help support my rescue work. I frequently have Northern foster dogs (Huskies = escape artists) so my home/yard is ready for anything. I have 6-8 foot fences and dig guard throughout. I have separate dog enclosures if needed. Your dog will be loved and safe here. He/she will be part of our family while with us. Michele, Apache, Lu and Cooper Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog/animal lover my entire life. Growing up, I was the president of Lafayette 4-H Club and in Moraga Junior Horseman's Association. My family had horses, cattle, rabbits, pigs and chickens . . . and dogs of course. When I graduated from college, I adopted a rescue Husky/German Shepard and have been rescuing Northern dog mixes ever since. I have formalized my rescuing with my membership and volunteering for NorSled Rescue (Northern breeds - Walnut Creek, CA), Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue (Incline Village, NV) and Oakland Animal Services (OAS). I foster and volunteer for these organizations and a former board member for NorSled. This experience has given me an opportunity to care for a wide range of dogs with a wide range of personalities (and sometimes abuse/neglect issues). Please note: I will take no more than 1 Rover dog (2 if bonded from the same family) at a time. This limit ensures that your dog will receive the love and attention he/she deserves. I leave a door open so no waiting for potty breaks! No other pets About my yard I have a huge backyard that is accessible to the dogs. Your dog can lounge wherever he/she wants. My property is 1.35 acres. The fenced area is not that total space but it's still huge. I've owned Malamute/Husky mixes my entire adult life so my yard is reinforced accordingly . . . It is entirely fenced - 6 - 8 feet high. The entire yard has a dig guard and I have Nest cameras. I’ve fostered an amazing deaf foster dog for OAS since November 2021 (she’s still here) so I have a lot of experience with deaf dogs too now. My experience administering medication Absolutely - it's part of having a pet. Yes, I will give injections too! I am also dog first aid and CPR certified.
