Mary Ellen F. - Dog Lover Looking for Pups to Play With!

Hello! My name is Mary Ellen and I am currently a senior at DePaul University studying psychology and biology. I am then planning to go on to a graduate program specializing in animal behavior or animal assisted therapy. During the past 4 years I have worked as a pet sitter and dog walker in the Chicago area, taking care of up to 6 dogs in one house at a time. I have cared for dogs and other various animals growing up. My family and I currently have 4 wonderful dogs, so multitasking between them and the other tasks of daily living is nothing new. I have loved dogs since as long as I can remember. I grew up in a household where we always had at least one dog that was part of our family. We started out with just one and over the years one grew to four. Once I went off to college I really missed having them around, let alone having any interaction with a dog, so I started working as a dog walker/sitter. It made the transition so much easier for me :)

I love all kinds and sizes! What I'm most concerned about when taking on a job is how well they interact with other animals, children, or just strangers in general. Also are there any specific training techniques that you as an own use? (I wouldn't want to derail any progress they've been making on limits that have been set for them). Is there any sort of food/treat that they shouldn't have? Any allergies or medical issues I should be aware of? Do they have favorites toys to play with or activities they like to do?
