How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

I have loved and owned dogs all my life. I have had several breeds including a golden retriever, a black chow, a black and white shih tzu and a rottweiler mix. I have been doing overnight dog sitting for the past 10 years and have wonderful references.

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

I always request a initial face to face meeting with new clients & their furry friend(s). I want to learn the routine the dog is accustomed to, as I'd like to adhere to it as much as possible, and see how they respond to a stranger in their house. I also think it's important to get to know the owners and for them to get to know who will be staying in their home.

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Are you willing to do additional tasks at my home while I'm away
(e.g., water plants, bring in the mail)?

Absolutely! Just tell me what you'd like me to do and it will be done! I'm exceptionally skilled with interior plants having worked for years in that industry. (Please see last photo.)

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

A minimum of 18 hours for the overnight visit. Usually 4 PM to 10 AM, although these times are very flexible. Additional visits, IE midday walks or a drop by, are 30 minutes.

When our regular dog sitter (also from rover) was not available, we looked for someone to fill his shoes, and Laurel was perfect. She was very accommodating of all of our dogs needs and quirks and the house was in great shape when we returned from our trip! We will definitely be having Laurel back whenever we are in need of a sitter! I should note that we have 5 dogs - 2 big ones, 3 small ones - Laurel handled them all and everyone seemed quite happy when we got home! (Collapse)

We have used Laurel's services twice now and she continues to amaze us with how she goes above and beyond! Laurel recently watched our house while we vacationed for 8 days. It could have been nerve-wracking for us to be so far away for such a long period of time, but Laurel kept us updated and even asked us a few questions via email, which really set our minds at ease. The original plan was for Laurel to leave our house at around 4pm the afternoon that we were scheduled to return, so the animals would only be a alone for four hours. However, our airline was delayed by over six hours and we knew that the dogs would need to go outside and be fed long before we would arrive home. Laurel was amazing! She changed her personal schedule to stay longer and take care of the animals and didn't leave our house until we were on the plane and pointed home. This kind of above-and-beyond service is why we will continue to use Laurel for all of our pet-sitting/house-sitting needs. When we returned home, Laurel had left us a full report on how everything went while we were away. Additionally, the guest bed sheets were changed, dished cleaned, and garbage taken out --- it was like she was never here and we didn't have to come home from a long trip and spend the next day tidying the house.
