I recently relocated to the Portland area from the San Francisco Bay Area where I was named the top Rover sitter with over 40 five-star client reviews. I bring to Portland over 2.5 years experience as a full time traveling Rover sitter and over 11 years as both a pet and house sitter. I have an extensive list of references and am also background checked and insured.
I am a full-time traveling pet and house sitter who specializes in both short and long-term (vacation) overnight care in your own home. In the event it is needed, I also provide live-in and daycare services. I would love to travel to your home when you cannot be there to care for your animals. Your precious animals will feel more comfortable in their own environment and I will love them and give them the same respect I give my own little guy. Due to the fact my Chihuahua, Chico, is timid and shy around other dogs, I do not bring him with me. He gets to stay at home while Dad works.
By staying in your own home, your pet/s will maintain their own routine while remaining in a very familiar environment. I have found this alleviates anxiety in animals who are prone to separation anxiety. In addition, many owners have told me that they feel much more comfortable having me in their home, not only to care for their animals, but home as well. I am extremely clean and respectful of other people's homes and love doing things around the house in your absence. Many clients have mentioned that they cannot even tell I was in their home!
I have had many different breeds of dogs my whole life, from big to small and am currently raising a four year old Chihuahua who is my little baby. I have also raised ferrets for many years.
I know what it takes to care/sit for cats and dogs, in addition to chickens, ferrets, rabbits and birds, and would love the opportunity to care for yours! I have a special place in my heart for ferrets and am willing to care for them as well. I have raised three ferrets (one of which needed medication administered daily due to Adrenal Gland Disease) and they are wonderful, entertaining, smart pets.
I am an honest person with a passion for dogs, big and small. My mission is to make sure your pet's needs are taken care of while you are away...you will not have to worry!
I am an excellent communicator and provide text, e-mail, and photo updates for you when you leave your beloved pet with me for extra peace of mind. I am always available and reachable while you are out of town should you need to get a hold of me. Due to the fact I only care for one client's animal at a time, I am able to spend as much time as needed caring for your extended family member. In the event I must contact you regarding something I may not be clear on, or an emergency occurs, I will contact you until you are reached, or will call the emergency numbers I require before you leave. So far to date,I have had to be a liaison between both client and landscaper when a tree was uprooted and crashed into the side of the house where I was staying (this occurred during my stay with two different clients, in two different states!). I have also had my client's awning blow into her neighbor's house during an intense wind storm. Recently, my client had put his house on the market and I stayed overnight with his pups, wherein I had to have constant contact with Realtors, put the dogs outside, and then leave the home while it was being showed. In another instance, a client's home driveway was being repaved and I overlooked the daily ins and outs of the whole operation.
Whatever issue may occur in your absence, I remain calm, go through the proper channels, and will keep you updated every step of the way. It is my responsibility to not only take superior care of your animals, but home as well. I do not like things being out of place and take extra measures to leave your home and property in the same-if not better-condition you left it in!
Please note, If you have an iPhone or Android, Rover.com has an app that allows us to stay connected while you are gone. Pictures and notes are sent straight to your phone for much easier access. One of my favorite things to do while your pet is in my care is to take pictures of them to send to you so you do not have to miss them as much. My subjects are always very willing to have their pictures taken for their parents!
I know that leaving your pet/s behind while you travel can be anxiety provoking; my mission is to alleviate all anxiety and to provide superior care for both your home and animal/s.
I have had dogs practically my whole life and my first experience with owning a family dog was when I was three years old. Ever since, I have never been without a dog. I have also raised ferrets for the last 9 years. I lived in Southern CA for ten years where I routinely sat for two dogs, one of which needed very special care due to illness. I also began pet and house sitting during college for supplemental income and fell in love with each animal and maintained long lasting relationships with each client.
I moved back to the Bay Area (my home town) from Southern CA over five years ago and have routinely sat for both dogs, cats, and ferrets. I also know how to administer medication to both ferrets and dogs. I currently have a Chihuahua that is very demanding and needs constant attention so I am definitely aware of what it takes to care for any kind of temperament. I am very patient with dogs/pets of all kinds and am very reliable and will make your animal feel as though they were my own. I have a very good record/references that will testify to my great pet sitting skills. Making pet owners happy and comfortable while they are away is my number one priority. I also enjoy caring for senior pets and have had the opportunity to care for many during my time as a sitter.
I am also a member of Professional United Pet Sitters as well as PetSitUSA and am background checked through Rover.com. I have been a part of the Rover family for over two years and have been rated one of the top sitters in the Bay Area.
I have had dogs my whole life, beginning at age 3. I have had many different breeds: Lahasa Apso, Terrier/Poodle, Shar Pei/Lab, Akita- and currently-a four year old Chihuahua named Chico. I have been around dogs for about 29 years and definitely know what it takes to care for them; they are like my babies. My base rate for traveling/overnight pet sitting in your home begins at $45/night, but may lower or raise depending on the services needed (length of time gone, overnight stays, just feeding/walking, number of animals, special needs, location, daycare, transportation, etc,). Please let me know if you have other animals or more than one dog as I charge an extra $10 per night for additional animals and $20 for puppies. For example, it would be $45/night for one dog/animal and $55/night for two animals, such as a dog and a cat. In the event you have a puppy, it would be $65 per night.
Due to the fact I charge by night, if you would like me to stay with your animal past noon on the last day, I charge a daycare fee of $25. If you are arriving home very late, an extra night is applied. If you would like me to travel outside of my 20 mile radius, I calculate mileage going to and from your home. This fee is then applied to your total stay price, as it is not applied nightly.
I also watch cats as many of my clients have both cats and dogs. I have also sat for clients who have birds, ferrets, chickens, fish, and rabbits. Your home and animals will be safe with me while you are away. Although I have my own dog, I am able to pet sit for both short and long durations, as my husband works from home and cares for our little guy when I am not there.
I would like to know if the dog is a rescue, has any history of abuse/neglect/harm or has ever inflicted harm to someone else, or suffers from separation anxiety. I would also like to know of any medical conditions/allergies I should be aware of. During a meet and greet, in which I meet you and your precious pup/s prior to your leaving, I like to ask a series of questions. I like to get as much information as possible so that by the time I sit your pet, I am familiar with their overall routine. I would also like to know how your dog socializes with strangers in your home while their owners are away, as many dogs tend to act differently once they meet me and then are suddenly left without their parents. I also like to ask what your expectations are while you are away so that we are on the same page, as well as how long your dog is usually left home alone. Although I am your pet's constant companion, there may be situations where I run an errand or two.
Some other things I like to know are your pet's feeding/walking/bathroom schedule, their propensity to damage things, how much time and attention they require, special needs, etc. I also like to have vet information such as current vaccination records and emergency contact information in the event I cannot reach you. Whatever your pet/s needs are, I am very thorough and follow directions extremely well. I do not have any breed preferences.
I have cared for the following breeds:
English and French Bulldog
I would love the chance to watch YOUR special breed-all are welcome!
Yes, I have a very reliable Honda CRV that can transport your pooch to dog parks, doggie day care, the vet (if need be) and other great adventures!
Yes, I have done it before. I just ask that you leave me a detailed guide on how exactly the medication needs to be administered-and any other specifics regarding medication that I need to be aware of. I have given pills on numerous occasions as well as oral injections to both dogs and cats. (I had a client with a 14 year old Australian Shepherd with epilepsy; I administered many pills each day while in my care with a pill popper/syringe as well as oral injections).
Yes, I am very willing. I don't want you to have to worry while you are away! I like to leave your home better than the way you left it and am extremely clean. I collect mail, take out the garbage, water plants, pick up dogs from kennels/doggie daycare, etc. I am always happy to help in any way I can. Just ask! Some price adjustments may need to be made depending on the tasks that are required. For example, if you need me to pick up an item, I charge a $15 service fee, along with the price of the item.
Since I only sit for one client at a time and am a full-time pet sitter, I can provide both short and long-term overnight care, as well as live-in services in your home. Please let me know should you want a live-in sitter who stays in your home 24/7, as rates differ for this kind of service. I love overnight sitting and will shower your animal with lots of belly rubs, long walks, and tons of affection and attention. During my overnight stays, I am rarely absent, unless I need to run a quick errand. I can also just stop by briefly if that is what your dog requires. No matter how much of my time your dog requires, I will always send you photo, text, and e-mail updates so that your vacation/time away from home can be spent not worrying. I want you to have a great time and to know that your dog is in great hands and is being loved. I also love cats and will take great care of them for you as well. I care for animals both big and small-not just cats and dogs-I have watched multiple chickens before, as well as ferrets, birds, parrots, fish, maintained Koi ponds, and I have even tended to beehives. I welcome all animals!
Let's plan a meet and greet so you can get to know me and I can get to know you and your animals :)
Please message me if you would like me to care for your animals or if you have any questions I may answer for you.
***Please note, new Rover members will receive $20 off their first booking. Just ask me for my personal promo code.
I look very forward to meeting the amazing pets of Portland and their wonderful parents!
