Description:

I know from experience how difficult it can be finding someone you trust enough to leave your beloved pets with when it becomes necessary to leave town.

My main objective is to disrupt your pet's routine as little as possible while you are away, to minimize the impact being separated from you will have on them.

Long walks, feeding schedules, sleeping arrangements, playtime - you get to dictate the routine we adhere to while you're away.

We also encourage bringing over a few of your dog's favorite chew toys, squeakies, blankets, etc. to make them feel more at home.

We live in an urban neighborhood so we do lots and lots of walking around Queen Anne, the Seattle Center, Belltown and downtown.

We also are fortunate enough to have a nice big back yard, which is great for all of the potty outings between walks...so it really is the best of both worlds!

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

I have been a dog lover all my life! I can't ever remember not having a dog, and I have experience with all breeds and temperaments.

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

I'd like to meet you and your dog before we commit to a stay, just to make sure we all get along and your dog(s) do well with our dog.

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

We have a Honda Pilot that fits dogs of all sizes. It practically runs on autopilot to the dog park.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Yes! I have no problem making sure your beloved pet receives any medication they might need.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

I am a stay-at-home mom, so your pet will almost never be alone. If I must leave them, it's never for long. Maybe a trip to the grocery store.

If you have a backyard, please describe it.

We have a nice, big back yard that has one step down to a lower level. It is not fenced, so your dog will never be left unattended or let off-leash when we visit the yard for potty breaks.

Where will my dog sleep?

Your dog will sleep right next to us, in our bedroom, on a dog bed, though we have been known to let a dog or two sleep in the bed with us - unless your routine dictates otherwise. If your dog sleeps in a crate at night, I am more than happy to accommodate. My goal is to disrupt your pet as little as possible.

Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.

We will walk all over Queen Anne, the Seattle Center, and Belltown. We will also make trips to Magnussen dog park if time allows, and you're comfortable with that.

Claire is the world's best dog. She's so sweet and loving, wonderful with children, animals of all sizes...she just wants to love and be loved. We are truly blessed with this sweet girl.

She is spayed and up to date with all her vaccinations. I require all dogs coming to stay with us to be up to date on all vaccinations as well, for the safety of your pet.

Gladys

Age: 6 years, 8 mo. old
Weight: 125 lbs.
Breed: Great Dane

Gladys came to us through interesting circumstances -- she was the first dog I ever sat for through Rover! Her family contacted me several months after we cared for her, and explained that they would be traveling for the next several years, and gave us the opportunity to adopt Gladys. Of course we jumped on it!

Gladys is incredibly sweet and gentle, just like her new sister Claire, and we couldn't possibly love her any more. She is wonderful with dogs of all sizes, and we are just so thankful that she ended up in our family.

In addition to two Great Danes (Gladys & Claire), we also have a 4 year old cat, named Stevie (also female). Stevie started out as an indoor cat, and has progressively begun exploring the great outdoors over the past few months. She comes in to eat and grace her with her presence from time to time. She has been around dogs her entire life and is very comfortable with them, as long as the dog in question does not want to eat her. :)

Kathy watches my corgi/chihuahua mix Zoey on a regular basis, and I could not ask for a better sitting arrangement. Kathy is very understanding of my crazy schedule, is very caring and affectionate with my pup, and is completely professional and responsible with her sitting obligations. I have always felt that Zoey is in the best of hands when she is there. I think the biggest endorsement is that most importantly, Zoey loves going over there! We just moved to Seattle a week before our 2 week vacation to Europe and I was really concerned about finding someone that I could trust with our dog OLAH. We found Kathy on ROVER and liked what we saw from the start:) She arranged for us to meet at the dog park and hit it off right away. Kathy was very kind, trusting, and (most importantly) we could tell that she loved dogs!!!!! Kathy and her family provided a wonderful and loving home away from home for my dog Nemo! Kathy is always very responsive and is flexible with various drop off and pick up times. My dog has some special needs, and Kathy really accommodated to his needs and made him feel like part of the family. Barney love! That's what he got at Kathy's!! He was a tired 'little' (he's a great dane) boy when he came home. I knew from the moment I met Kathy that it was a perfect fit for Barney and for me-with this being Barney's first time away from home it couldn't have been better! Kathy and her family ROCK! They gave Barney tons of love and let him sleep on the couch...sorry for the drool stains :) I had to cut my vacation short and Kathy was more then understanding, which I totally appreciated. Humphrey had a great time at Kathy's home. He was hanging out with big dogs which he's normally afraid of. Now when we go to the park he's totally fine with big dogs. Kathy sent me text updates and even a picture of my little guy. it was our first time away from him and I was a mess! Kathy has a really great home and I felt completely comfortable leaving Humphrey in her care. I know now that he has a safe place to stay when he can't be with me and that is a huge comfort! Our entire family was incredibly impressed with the care Boots was given. Kathy and her husband were diligent and caring and most especially we just had that feeling in our "gut" that Boots was going to be loved. Saydee loved staying w/Kathy & John and we plan on leaving her w/them this weekend. We had no qualms with leaving her. Kathy is really easy to talk to and answered all my questions. We were able to visit their home a few days before we left her so that Saydee wouldn't feel like I was dropping her off w/strangers! This was a few weeks after the meet & greet. I highly recommend Kathy to anyone who wants to know that their dog is as loved and taken care of as if it was you. (Collapse)

After dog-sitting plans fell through for my labradoodle puppy Rufus, I luckily came across Rover.com. Kathy and her family were so helpful and accommodating, especially considering the late notice. I picked up Rufus a little earlier than expected and Kathy was in the middle of baking her own dog treats. She took down my address and said that she would mail us some! It was obvious that Rufus had a wonderful time -- he took a multi-hour nap once he got home. I would definitely have Rufus stay over again in the future. Thanks Kathy+family! (Collapse)

We left our dog with Kathy for 8 days while we were away. She and here family were awesome! Kathy texted updates on how he was doing and provided us details when we picked him up. He was happy and healthy -- almost like he had been on a fun vacation himself. We will definitely use her services again.

We dropped our dog Lewis off at Kathy's while my wife and I went to a wedding in Portland. We are newlyweds ourselves and we travel so often it's nice to find a dogsitter so we don't feel like we're constantly imposing on our family and friends. We decided to give Kathy a try based on other positive Rover reviews. On our first meeting there was immediately good energy. You can tell Kathy and her family really love dogs! In our initial "meet and greet" she had at least 4 other dogs she was watching including her own, Claire. They were playing in her backyard and having a blast! While we were on our trip, Kathy was thoughtful enough to send us a pix message of Lewis and an update on how he was doing. It was reassuring knowing our little dog was in good hands. When we picked him up I asked Kathy where Lewis slept and she said with her, which is great because he is accustomed to sleeping on the bed with us at home. Kathy and her family even gave Lewis a bath, a bag of dog treats, and a really nice thank you card to us! I highly recommend Kathy to anyone, even if you don't live in the city. Her house is in Queen Anne but close to Seattle Center and not far from the freeway. It's super convenient to get to. Kathy's outstanding service really makes her worth any drive. Kathy and her family were very responsive with questions we had and setting up a meeting and the stay. Lulu came back happy and well-socialized. I think she was even a bit sad to leave. And we got some treats for her--very nice!

Kuma's stay at Kathy's house was fantastic. This was the first time we have used rover.com and we were so impressed. We were gone a week and left Kuma our very large goldendoodle with Kathy and her family. Kuma had a fabulous time and Kathy was so conscientious and really gave us a sense that she got to know Kuma. She had the very smart idea of meeting at the dog park first so the dogs could get to know each other on neutral ground. When I saw Kuma standing next to Kathy just before we left, I knew it would be a great experience for him. She even gave him a BATH before we picked him up. Kathy agreed to host our dog Drifter after he'd come down with a sudden diagnosis of giardia. He wasn't showing symptoms and had a green light to be boarded from the vet - Kathy was kind enough to take our little guy in with an already full house and at the last minute. I can't recommend her highly enough. Our little cockapoo played with some big dogs in their home, was given medicine twice daily, and came home happy and completely exhausted. After a muddy trip to the dog park, Kathy even gave our pup a much-needed bath, a huge surprise for us! Kathy, John, and their daughter gave a loving home to our canine while we were away, offered their space again for future stays, and sent *us* with a thank you gift when it was their family who had done us a huge favor. We look forward to leaving our little guy with them again in the future, knowing he'll be cared for and pampered. (Collapse)

I really can't say enough about how amazing my first Rover experience was! Kathy and her family hosted our golden at the last minute and made us feel so comfortable! Right from the beginning she told me to bring anything that would help him feel at home and assured me that checking up on him was great. Exchanging a few texts and pictures during the weekend allowed me to relax and enjoy myself. In the end I picked up a tired, happy pooch- he had so much fun with her dog, Claire! I will definitely bring Azlan back to her again when we visit Seattle! (Collapse)

Kathy and her family were gracious enough to watch Jameson at the VERY last minute after my "friend" backed out just before Memorial Day weekend. In less than 12 hours after sending my initial email, I was dropping Jameson off with Kathy and her Great Dane, Claire for the long weekend! She was a godsend and I would have had to cancel my trip if it weren't for her. Jameson was very happy without the usual "attached at the hip" anxiety he usually has immediately after I leave him a for a few days, so I know he had a fantastic time with his new friends.
