About Kate M.:

"Travel Sitter" --I come to your pet.
Goal: Happy healthy pets, anxiety-free pet owners.
About me: The old gray mare ain't what she used to be. Unfortunately, due to some injuries, I am only able to handle very small and/or placid animals. It's not fair for me to say I can take on any kind of animal, because i simply can't do it. Oh, I get stuck sometimes, and I do what needs to be done, but then when I get home I need a very long recovery period, so it doesn't pan out in the long run. However, if you have an older pet, large fenced yard or your dog walks well on leash, I can manage just fine.

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

All my life. All dogs, big an,d small. Have had and taken care of fish, (tropical and gold), turtles, rats, hamsters. guinea pigs, snakes, lizards, and some birds. Horses, goats, chickens. Cats, of course.

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

No breed preferences, but attitude is everything. A dog who is willing to go along with my easygoing, gentle approach is of course Heaven on Earth. I can usually get rambunctious dogs under my control very quickly, as soon as they realize I'm on their side and just want to have fun. Everybody relax!

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Yes. Moonbeam the durable Saturn. Gets me where I need to go, cheaply and efficiently. Best quality of my car is that she starts every time! And then stops, when I wish.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Yes. As noted at length above, I had a rather difficult horse when I was a young girl. She serious disliked human males, and in those days there were very few female vets- so I had to learn to give shots and administer all other forms of medication, fly ointment, muscle rubs, etc. From long practice, I am in the habit of writing a short report of what goes one with your pet in my care, i.e., "elimination", any behavioral issues, certainly any medication administration you have ordered.

Are you willing to do additional tasks at my home while I'm away
(e.g., water plants, bring in the mail)?

Certainly.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

Depends on what you prefer, what the pets need, and what my schedule allows. Best case scenario is the pet is OK alone for a while, with play breaks throughout the day and evening. However, if it's a pet with separation issues, we can discuss this and devise a plan for making them happy when you are away. I'm super flexible and my goal is a happy healthy pet and for you to recommend me to others!

it's nice to know since moving to the Bay Area a little over a year ago that we have someone we can trust implicitly to leave our three dogs with. Now we can take the trips we need to for work or to see family and know that, if we have to leave the dogs behind, we can count on Kate M. to take such wonderful care of our dogs and our home!

I have known Kate for many years. We met because she need a dog sitter and since then we have taken care of each other's pets. Her dog Sophie died several years ago. Knowing she was lonely I offered my dog, Huck, go stay with her for a while (he was being hen pecked by his wife, Chewie, and he needed a brake) and he never came home. He loves her and she loves him and it never ceases to amaze me what she has taught him to do. I trust Kate with my life, she would be nothing but an asset for your organization (Collapse)
