Your Dog's Home Away From Home

Pet care experience

Your dog will feel like part of our family. I am a stay at home person so your doggie will never get lonely. We go on long walks and play in the park. Your dog will get all of my love and affection. Recently, due to serious medical problems I had to put Shredder down but she's in a much better place. We also like to have fun. We play in the park, we go on walks 3 times per day. I'm looking through shelters for another but for right now I'm dogless. Our patio is about 18'x36', fully fenced, 5' 1/2' ft. concrete. We also live next door to a large park. . My rates differ depending on what type and how large of a dog they are. The largest size dog I am willing to watch is a well trained Rottweiler. I will also watch a well trained Pitt Bull. *Must be house trained **Please, no dogs over 65 lbs About this sitter: I'm at home full time. I have one grown up son. I've lived in Woodbridge for 26 years. I had a female dog who was 16 1/2 and very friendly. She would love to have doggie friends stay over. We have a great park right next door to us. Most of my info is on my overnight profile. Why I love dog sitting I've loved dogs since I was a kid (5). I first had a Bearded Collie and I grew up with her. I believe in adopting dogs, so I've always had mutts. But they have always been great. I've always taken very good care of my dogs and I have been lucky enough to never have had any type of major problems or illnesses with any of them. Right now I don't have any pets (a dog). My home is a two bedroom townhome with an open living and family room. I am right next to the park. I have a nice sized patio. About my yard Nice brick patio with a table and chairs. It's about 18' x 36' feet. It has a 5 1/2 foot concrete enclosed fence. Just a little shrubbery on one end. My experience administering medication It's okay

Karen is a lifesaver! A last minute trip came up the day before Thanksgiving and I was able to book Cooper to stay overnight. She lives right next to a park so there is plenty of room for the pups to play. She responds quickly to any messages/inquiries and is exactly what I've been looking for in someone to take of my puppy when I have to leave town for work or travel -- Absolutely no hesitation to recommend and I will be re-booking with her In the future (A+++)

Part of me feels bad leaving this review as I'm sure Karen probably needs the business. And it was my fault for not doing a home visit prior to boarding my dogs with her. The Positive, I have no reason to believe she did not treat my dogs well, she sent me some pics as I requested. However, I will never leave my dogs with her again. Just about the first thing she said to me was a lie. I walked into her home to drop my dogs off and her home smelled like an ashtray, I stupidly asked if she smoked, she said "no". Well that was obviously a lie, the house reeked so bad, my hair smelled like cigarettes after being in it for 15 minutes. It was very disconcerting to leave my dogs with someone that just lied and whose house was very dirty and smelled so bad. When we picked the dogs up, the dogs smelled like cigarettes, and everything that was in her house smelled like cigarettes, including the dog bowls. So after traveling and getting home we had to bath the two dogs (one is a German Shepherd) not an easy task. But they smelled so bad, they would have smelled up our house if we had not bathed them immediately. I hope the German Shepherd's dog bed airs out or I'll have to buy a new one. It is too big to wash. The other facts. When we got there they had the front door open with a very small baby gate blocking the front door. Her house faces a park, they are so lucky the German Shepherd didn't jump over it and run away (that I am aware of). I told them to be careful with the door with him as he is known to be a runner, why would they even take that chance with someone's dog? I booked with Karen because she didn't have a dog. My German Shepherd is dog aggressive to the point of attacking other dogs. I informed Karen of this. Then I find out her son's girlfriend brought her dog over to the house and was apparently there for a few nights. Again why would you take that chance. If I had done a home visit I never would have left my dogs there and I was very worried about them. I realize everyone has different definitions of clean, but there were empty beer cans on the floor and a broken table in the middle of the room, she has a 20 something year old son so I'm not sure why it wasn't picked up. I really hope nothing else bad happened to them while I was away, it is hard to know when you leave them with someone that lied and was not careful with my dogs or other dogs safety.

Easy drop off and pick up, my dog had the run of the house and seemed very happy when I picked her up. I will use Karen again to watch my dog next time I go out of town!

Information Karen R. would like to know about your pet

I don't have any breed preference, but I do like dogs that are not high strung. I like to know if dog is friendly, has any history of aggression, if the dog is trained. It Must Be House Trained. And must not chew. But the dog doesn't have to know many commands. Just not be aggressive. There are a lot of kids in the neighborhood.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks In the park, also to a lake to watch the ducks. There will be lots of other dogs out on walks too. Around the neighborhood, under lots of trees and whatever else I see the dog wants to do. We can also play fetch in a special park by my house if your dog knows how to (I can't whistle). Your dog's sleeping arrangement Will be discussed. Time I'll spend with your dog Three walks per day and your dog will have my dog for company if it likes. I'm always around the house so your dog will have all day interaction with me even if it's just hanging out. The largest size dog I am willing to watch is a well trained Rottweiler. I will also watch a well trained Pitt Bull. If you have more than one dog, I will happily take him/her. Usually $22-$33 per night extra. We can discuss.
