Comfy Home For Your Dog

Pet care experience

My Home: Single-adult home with no kids. I have three dachshunds, two are 15 year old seniors and one is nearly a senior. My home is a small home and my dogs are very laid back. My two seniors are not fond of high energy dogs. This household would do best with other small senior dogs, or small adult dogs that are not high energy. I work nights, part time, so I am home during the day. Since I work evenings my contact with you will not generally be in the A.M. hours. I am selective about the dogs who stay here because it is important to me that all dogs remain in a safe environment. I also prefer to keep my prices low because I will not accept just any dog. It is more important to me to sit a dog that fits well with our pack than it is to make money. How It Works Here/Safety: I have 5 years experience with fostering dogs who have come to me as stray’s or from less than ideal homes. I know that dogs in an unfamiliar environment, around unfamiliar dogs tend to be stressed and not like their normal selves. Because of this I segregate the dogs for up to 24 hours so I can get a feel for how they will interact. I use baby gates, your dog will never be locked in a kennel, and I rotate segregation every few hours (within the first 24 hours), so that all dogs can become acclimated. I have had dogs that take only a few hours to become acclimated, and I have fostered dogs that took up to two weeks to become acclimated, but I will never, ever leave your dog alone with mine, or without my supervision. While my dogs tend to adjust well to new dogs in the home due to my several years of fostering, I realize your dog may not, and my first priority is to keep all dogs safe and well taken care of. In addition, I have a secure yard, but I will not leave your dog out in my yard without being out there to watch them, I know that stressed dogs tend to be escape artists. Because you can never say never, IF something were to go awry I would IMMEDIATELY contact you. I have references available to contact upon the Meet and Greet and do not mind one bit if you choose to call them. New Stay’s: I cannot accept a new stay for long than a week. I think it is too stressful for the new dog. I would however accept a week or more Stay for dogs who are repeat clients, again, the safety of all dogs is what concerns me most. IMPORTANT NOTE: When you contact me, please give me specific, detailed information about your dog. This includes an estimate of the last vaccinations, temperament, age, breed, how long you have owned your fur-ball, and their history. Thank You, Jodie

Thank you for watching foxy for me. I'm sure she had a lot of fun with your dogs!

Jodi was a lifesaver for myself and a little senior dachshund named Dana that had lost her home and family. Dana didn't have a lot of time left, but Jodi took her in and loved and cared for her until the end. Jodi opened herself up to a tremendous amount of heartache, because she is so loving and compassionate to dogs and wanted Dana to have a great end if life. And did she ever, I don't think Dana had ever been loved so well. Jodi is one of the few people on this planet I would trust any of my dogs to. She's kind, caring, sincere and wonderful with animals. I know Jodi is an angel on earth and whoever uses her will not be disappointed.

Jodie is super great with dogs! When we go on a family vacation Jodie is the first person I call to see if she's available to care for our dogs while gone. She is always on top of things, fresh water, well feed, and plenty of walks. I highly recommend her.

Jodie, for as long as I've known her (nearly a decade now), has always had dogs at the very top of her list of loves. And she's always been insanely good to every dog she's ever had. She'll be great.

Information Jodie C. would like to know about your pet

FIRST AND FOREMOST YOUR DOGS MUST BE UP TO DATE ON SHOTS, AND I WILL REQUIRE THAT INFORMATION. ALL DOGS IN MY CARE MUST, MUST, MUST HAVE THEIR DHPP OR DHLPP/BORTADELLA SHOT. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE!!! In addition it is HIGHLY important to have your dogs on worming medication!! As a doggy foster parent for several reputable agencies I know that it is best to be up front and honest about your dogs, I HAVE to know if your dog has food aggression, dog aggression, or people aggression. I would not rule a dog out for aggression reasons, but I have to know so that I can know how best to care for your dog. As for my home, I need to know if your dog has potty issues. This is not a deal breaker for me since I don't have carpet, but I also don't want pee all over my house just because I am not aware of potty issues. I get it, dogs in a new home, on a different schedule will likely have accidents, I just want to be aware of them, so I can keep your pup on its normal schedule.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks I walk around my neighborhood, there are lots of sniffs to be had and depending on the dog we can walk up to 2 miles. My two senior doxies can only walk about two city blocks so I take them out separate from my 8 year old who is more than happy to walk 2 miles. I would like to note that if I walk your dog, I would desire they have a harness instead of just the collar (safer that way). Your dog's sleeping arrangement I have about 5 fluffy dog beds located throughout the house. If your dog is comfortable sleeping on a dog bed on the floor of my bedroom then I will drag one in there at night so they can sleep with the pack. Two of my dogs sleep in my bed (and am fine if yours want to too), and the other sleeps on a bed near the vent in the kitchen. Time I'll spend with your dog I work part-time but am home the remainder of the day and night. I walk my dogs regularly.

Why I love dog sitting I've loved dogs my entire life and used to beg my mom for one when I was young, we finally got a senior Great Dane when I was 9. When she passed we got dachshunds and I've been a fan ever since. I'm currently attending school (second career) for Baking and Pastry Arts, but my first love is dogs. Since I purchased my own home five years ago I have fostered dogs for several agencies, one being Dachshund Rescue of North America, St. Louis Senior Dog Project and St. Louis Bulldog Rescue. I am not currently fostering because I now own three dogs, but I do have space to regularly board pets.
