Pet care experience
I have one dog, Toby and he loves to have friends come to stay with us. Toby is 9 years old so he is low key and very easy going. He loves his walks so we get out twice a day for walks and expect that your dog would also enjoy walking with us. I can have small dogs (up to 20 pounds) come stay with us in our 2 bedroom condo in Walnut Creek. I live in Diablo Hills Condominiums right behind the golf course with many scenic walking areas. Additionally, I am about a 20 minute walk to Heather Farms and 5 minute drive to Shell Ridge Open Space where we like to go hiking. I have always loved dogs and watched my friends' pets for years before I started offering my services professionally in 2010. I am involved with Tony LaRussa's ARF (animal rescue foundation) as a volunteer working to make sure that their efforts are promoted throughout the community so that they can achieve their goals in placing pets in loving homes. Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover since birth! I swore to my parents that our dog barked up to my window from the yard saying "I Love You" and I still believe it. I easily connect with dogs and find that they offer so much joy and happiness that I truly love being around them, even when they slobber on me. About my yard I have a fenced in small patio with an area of bark for the dogs in case of emergencies but I typically walk Toby and friends on a leash.

Janis responded quickly to our request and kindly accommodated the last minute business meeting schedule we had to attend to. Our 12 year old, sight impaired Terrier is usually difficult to warm up to new environment. But Janis and Toby welcomed him. He had so much fun that he did not want to leave. Janis has a very nice enclosed patio where our dog enjoyed playing with Toby. We highly recommend Janis, wishing we lived closer to her and Toby so we could ask her often to sit our dog.
We unexpectedly had to travel for 10 days and feel very lucky to have found Janis. Our Labrador is extremely important to us and we have avoided travelling because we were unable to find a reliable pet/house sitter - no longer - Janis is reliable, competent, smart and also a really nice person. We will work with her again for sure.

I prefer small dogs for hosting due to living in a condo. However, I will consider dogs up to 30 pounds.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks My condo complex backs up the the Diablo Hills Golf course and has several grassy patches throughout the complex itself so we walk about through out the complex and into the open space. On evenings and weekends we walk to Heather Farms park which can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending how far we go and if we stop at the Dog Park there. Another option some days is to drive a few minutes over to Shell Ridge Open Space which is great it your dog is trained for off leash hiking (Max 2 hours). If your dog needs more or less walking time I can accommodate either way. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Toby sleeps on the bed with me so if your dog is used to that it works out well. I have a regular dog who sleeps in a crate overnight so I put that in the bedroom and that works out too. Just let me know what your dog is used to at home and I can offer something similar. Time I'll spend with your dog On weekdays I work outside of the house but I come home for lunch (my office is walking distance to my home) so the dogs are never left more than 4-5 hours at a time. On the weekends I stay pretty close to home especially when we have visiting dogs. Time I'll spend with your dog Weekdays I work out of the house but I come home at lunch ( I work walking distance to my home) so the dogs are not left more the 4 - 5 hours. Weekends I stay fairly close to home especially if I have visiting dogs. Extra house-sitting services Yes, absolutely.
