Pro. Dog Handler with WFH job!

Pet care experience

I grew up between my grandparent's farm in Rudolph, WI, where I trained Collies and Chicago, where we have always had a dog. When I moved to New York, I started dog sitting and walking for Good Dog Walking, a Manhattan-based company. I have also fostered and trained several rescues who went on to find forever homes. Working through Rover for the past 10+ years has been a gift. I prefer Rover to local dog-sitting services because the owners and I can discuss details directly and get to know each other better before booking the stay. I have always been athletic, and since I work from a computer, I like to get a lot of exercise to stay in shape. This is great news for your furry friend! I even love to run with my four-legged guests, if they are up for it. On my grandparent's 150-acre farm in Wisconsin I would spend my summers helping out. My grandmother has always been a dog lover and retired to Rudolph, WI, to start raising Collies and other animals on a farm. In 1993 she moved out of the city (Chicago) and opened Balverie Collies, where they raised and bred beautiful, happy, healthy Collie puppies for show. In the mornings and evenings, I would feed them and let them out to their various fields to run and play. I have warm and distinct childhood memories of taking an afternoon nap among a pile of 3-10 Collies in the middle of one of their gigantic fenced-in fields. I would help train the chosen dogs for show, while the rest would be trained and socialized so they could find happy, loving homes. My grandmother regularly stays in contact with the new owners to ensure the well-being of her pups. I would bathe them, groom their big, full coats, clip their nails, assist in delivering puppies, and administer medications if needed. Overall, the time I spent with those dogs made for some of the most magical childhood memories I could have hoped for.

Erica is delightful, professional and knowledgeable. My dogs loved her right off the bat. She even got my more neurotic girl to calm down much faster than usual. This was just a meet and greet but I can't wait for the first time I book her services.

Erica is the BEST! She was extremely thorough and made sure our boys were comfortable and in the routines they’re used to while we were away! She kept our hearts at ease by sending lots of wonderful pictures, and coming home to our happy and relaxed boys is simply priceless! Thank you Erica!

I will provide end-of-day status updates, so you know how your pup is doing. I will send pictures and videos from our walks, playtime, naps, and more, frequently throughout the day. If you ever need additional updates, I am available 24/7 via the Rover app, call, or text. I am also available for FaceTime if you ever want to video chat with your dog to see how our training is going.

Information Erica L. would like to know about your pet

I will ask you, during our meet and greet, about a million questions you may have never thought of mentioning about your dog's care and routine. I take comprehensive notes which I compile into a Google Doc that I will share with you after the meet and greet. This ensures we avoid any miscommunication. You are free to use that document for future stays and personal records. Rest assured, when you choose me as your dog sitter, nothing will be overlooked.

A typical day

Walk Locations: Numerous grassy expanses and tranquil sidewalks near my abode form our walking routes. Moreover, a puppy play area in the backyard caters to smaller dogs. For extended strolls, we’ll venture to the larger parks nearby. Sleeping Arrangements: Your dog is welcome to share the bed beside me, though if you have a preference for a dog bed or crate, that can be arranged. Time Spent Together: Working from home affords me the luxury of spending the entire day and night with your pup, barring a few instances when I might need to step out for errands where dogs aren’t permitted. Dog-Sitting Philosophy: Whenever I undertake dog-sitting, I make it a priority to understand the customary care regimen from you. What sets dog-sitting via Rover apart is the assurance that your dog won’t feel displaced. The absence of their humans can be stressful enough. During initial meet and greets, common concerns from owners often revolve around how their dogs adapt to boarding with me. This largely hinges on your dog’s age and the amount of time you usually spend with them on a daily basis. It’s paramount to keep everything else as comforting and stress-free as possible. With me, your dog will scarcely notice your absence! They will be treated to ample exercise, a variety of trees to explore, and fresh locales to wander through. Our shared outdoor escapades will ensure we both enjoy exercise and fresh air. Rest assured, your dog will bask in love and attention throughout their stay, making it a veritable vacation for them too!

I love the long walks with my furry friends. Getting exercise that also benefits a pup is so much more enjoyable than doing it just for my own health. As I work from a home as a software engineer, I have very flexible working hours. This means I will always be able to accommodate your dog's typical routine.
