Hello! I am Deirdre (Dee Dee for short), a current Senior at UPenn. I would like to make some extra cash for college by taking care of your pet! I love all kinds of animals; because of a rental agreement, I cannot keep a dog companion. I'm more than happy to become friends with yours!
Before moving to Philadelphia, I worked for my local no-kill shelter in New Jersey for 5 years. I also volunteered for PAWS for one year. Tasks there included feeding (including special diets and medicines), cleaning up after, walking and playing with both dogs and cats. In these environments I naturally became used to dogs with different personalities, especially the anxious and shy types! This also helped me get used to dogs of all ages and sizes!
My schedule is really eccentric, but also flexible. I am available for most weekends, and overnights on some. I can also walk your dog- I live directly across from Clark Park. This is a beautiful and lively place for your dog to relax on the weekends!
My previous volunteer work in an animal shelter prepared me for helping homeless dogs, including but not limited to feeding, cleaning, grooming, medicating, playing and walking.
I used to own a snake, mice (as pets!), an iguana and a hamster. I also live with one picky and strange cat, so I am accustomed to multiple-animal households.
I was never allowed to live with a dog when I was young. I found my outlet for puppy love by volunteering for the animal shelter instead.
No breed preferences. I would like to know mostly about their personality: what kinds of things may frighten them, which attitude they exhibit towards strangers, how they act around other dogs, etc.
Yes.
Yes- please describe what I need to do.
However much time you think they need to be comfortable and happy.
