About Dan B.:

I'm an iOS app developer and photographer. I love being outdoors, and I always wish I had a dog with me. I love playing with and photographing pets (and teaching them tricks)!

Dan B.'s Experience:

My first memory in life was when we got my dog Muffin, a golden retriever mutt. I've loved and cared for dogs my whole life, and I'm desperate to get my own but can't due to the rules of our current apt. In the meantime, I'd love to spend time with other people's canine companions! I have experience with many breeds, including my parents' 140 lb Newfoundland!

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

Literally my first memory in life was getting my childhood dog. I have always been in love with dogs! I feel more comfortable with most dogs than with most people. :)

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

I love golden retrievers and labs, but who doesn't really? I am not picky though. I like dogs who will go for a run, who enjoy a long walk, or who just like to lay around on the couch! I'd just like to know how the dog does around others, since I'd like to take him or her out (and maybe to the dog park?).

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Yes, I have a ZipCar membership and can easily get a car at a moment's notice.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Yes, though I would of course like instruction / demonstration first.

Are you willing to do additional tasks at my home while I'm away
(e.g., water plants, bring in the mail)?

Sure, no problem.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

I would be happy to spend each evening and all of the weekend with your dog. I do have a full-time job on weekdays, but my schedule is very flexible and I can even potentially work from (your) home. In addition, my girlfriend is just as much of an experienced dog lover as I am, and she would most likely love to spend some time with your dog during week days as well (if you were comfortable with that!).

Dan is great with dogs! He helped train my dog how to do many tricks, including roll over, begging (on command) and holding a treat on her nose until you say she can eat it. He also has done a lot to teach her to be more patient- she's a lab and has a lot of energy, and he's really good with helping her to learn how to walk on a leash and be more calm when playing fetch (she used to bark if you didn't throw the ball fast enough, and now she knows better)! Dan is one of those people who would probably prefer the company of dogs to the company of people a little bit, (although he's also a nice guy of course). I'm sure if his landlady would let him he would have a dog of his own, and that would be a spoiled, yet well behaved doggie! (Collapse)

So I'm suppose to write some kind words on why Dan is a good candidate for dog sitting? Before I do that, I'd like to say who is crazy enough to leave their pets long enough to need a sitter? Since my move to New York I haven't been able to get a new doggy, but when I do, she's going everywhere with me when I travel. I guess if you need to travel to another planet and your dog wont survive the travel and you have to get a dog sitter, then Dan is your man! He is one the sweetest most loving human beings I've ever met. He's an animal lover who I trust with my dog, cat, and any other pet for that matter. There aren't many people you'd trust with your baby, but Dan is one of them. Whether your baby is a kicking, crying, snotty nose temperamental infant or a beautiful four legged unconditional loving animal, once again, Dan is your man! (Collapse)

Dan has taken care of my dog Sydney on multiple occasions. She adores him! He's very comfortable with every type of dog and gives her a lot of love and attention. He takes her to the dog park, for walks, to play in the yard, play with her toys, and take naps on his couch. Afterwards, she is tired and happy. It's clear from the greetings she gives him how much she loves and trusts him. He is always my top choice to watch Sydney when I'm out of town or at work. (Collapse)
