Board & Train Options Now Available

Pet care experience

As far back as I can remember, there have been dogs in my life, at one point, upwards of 30 in an unofficial rescue that my wife and I managed on our own. Five years ago, I took a greater interest in training techniques, I discovered the positive reinforcement methods, became a certified trick dog instructor (CTDI) through Do More With Your Dog now I'm adding training to my boarding offerings. About this sitter: My lifetime of experience with dogs fuels a passion within me to do everything I can to better their lives with their pet parents. I'm a Certified Trick Dog Instructor through Kyra Sundance's "Do More With Your Dog" instructor certification program. I'm currently learning from a professional dog trainer who specializes in dogs with behavior issues how to manage and fix these kinds of problems. I use only reward based positive reinforcement training techniques, they are the only ones that really work in my experience. I have two yards for the dogs, the smaller one is off the back porch, completely fenced with 4 foot sheep fence. The other area is a much larger play area with the same kind of fencing. If your dog likes to climb fences, jumps over four feet, or digs under fences,I'll need to know this.

Chet is the absolute best! I was really nervous and stressed about leaving Ruby for the first time while I was out of the country, but she had a fantastic time at camp and was all tired out from her fun when I got her back. I got pictures and updates along the way about the places she went and things she did. I wouldn't bother looking anywhere else if Chet is available next time I need to book a stay. 5 stars!

Chet was a great host for our dog over a long weekend. He had plenty of space for our pup, was very loving towards her, and had a few friends (other pups) there to to keep her company over the weekend. Chet went out of the way to allow us to pick our dog up very late in the evening as our return flight was delayed a few hours (2 a.m.). He made sure to ask us about when and what we feed her (she eats a raw diet and just asked that we bring enough to last her the weekend), making sure she had sufficient care. He also sent periodic updates along with pictures of our pup while she stayed with him.

Chet was the best thing for our pups! Our pit bull and our little chihuahua both loved their stay there! I love how Chet is a dog trainer and was able to let us know more information about our newly adopted pit bull! He sent us pictures while we were gone and I knew the dogs had space to run and play with his other dogs! They almost did not want to come home! We will always use Chet when we need a dog sitter. We are so grateful we found him! Sincerely, Emilee and Yarik (Parents of Ginger and Winston)

Information Chet W. would like to know about your pet

How well does your dog get along with cats and other dogs? Are there any particular activities that your dog likes? Do you feed your dog meals, or leave food down? Would you like to have them receive formal training while they visit? Ask about my board and train rates, they are very affordable compared to other board and train options.

A typical day

I reside on three acres, there is plenty of room here for walks if your dog is partial to them, otherwise, I generally prefer to exercise dogs in my private exclusive dog park. I'm not real fond of the idea of taking other peoples dogs to public dog parks. Too many things can happen, and I wouldn't want to put your dog in any risky situations. If your dog needs daily walks beyond the exercise they get during play, let me know. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog sleeps wherever your dog wants to sleep. They will be in my room at night, if they prefer a crate for sleeping, I can accommodate that, they can have their own bed or blanket on the floor, or if they want, they can sleep on the bed. Whatever works best for them. Time I'll spend with your dog Your dog will be included in all of the activities I participate in with my own dogs, and probably a few extra car rides if I am going somewhere where they can go too. I like to keep the dogs I'm watching with me if I can, but only if I don't have to leave them in the car. Training packages are available for training your dog for a number of things, if they don't really find a crate a fun place to be, I will run them through Susan Garrett's Fun Crate Training Games. Dogs who don't like coming when called can learn the Really Reliable Recall that Leslie Nelson pioneered. I can get them started in basic nosework games, teach them some tricks you'd like them to know, or work on basic obedience and some behavioral issues. If you would like to drop your dog off for a day training session before work, and pick them up after work in place of doggy day care, I can accommodate that as well. Let me know what your training needs are.
