Description:

I have a two story apartment with two bedrooms, one being a playroom for the animals. I have lots of couches for those who like to nap often but I also have lots of room for running around! There is a small yard close by but I usually go to the park a few blocks down to play and its an easy drive to the DOG BEACH! I have experience in veterinarian clinics, so if your dog needs special attention or certain medications I can do it! My home is your home for your family and we hope you will come play with us!

About Abby R.:

Hello, Everyone ! I'm a very fun, active, outgoing individual and I'm a radiography student at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I love being with animals and have worked in several veterinarian clinics as an assistant for the past 6 years. I have a B.S. degree in Biology with a concentration in pre-veterinarian studies.
I have a dog, Ben and a kitten, Kiki who I call my children :) Ben is a vizsla/pit mix and a registered service animal.

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

I would like to know a little bit about the dog, such as if they are neutered (because I have a male dog as well), house trained, playful or timid, how old they are, and if they get along well with kittens/cats. I do not have any breed preferences because they are all awesome :)

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

I do have a Jeep Cherokee with lots of room in case of an emergency.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

I have experience with many types of medications, so I'm very comfortable administering whatever medication your pup may need.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

Your dog will be with me all day because this is my job:) There will be many walks and they will be able to play with me and my animals as well as much as they want!

If you have a backyard, please describe it.

I do not have a backyard, however, I do make trips down to the dog park and to the dog beach so the dogs have adequate exercise, along with the many walks a day they will receive.

Where will my dog sleep?

Your dog may sleep where ever their little hearts desire :) I have 5 couches, one is a wrap around that's big enough for even the 150lb doggies. I also have a couch that pulls out into a bed, so if your friend normally sleeps on a bed, they will have one! I also have many blankets and pillows for everyone!

Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.

I will take your dogs strolling through my neighborhood and close by neighborhoods. I prefer not to be close to many cars going by so that the dogs and myself are safe. The walks can be 20 min-45 min, depending on the condition of your dog (young/older). If you normally take them on longer walks, I'm available to do so!

Ben is a GREAT couch dog, but he loves to run and play tug of war. He is a registered service animal and is full of personality with a lot of facial expressions! He loves walking and playing with his sister, a calico kitten named Kiki. He has a special attachment to my husband who rescued him from a puppy mill at 6 weeks old and has since then been struggling with separation anxiety, but you can't tell him that..he just keeps playing..or sleeping :) Ben was also just recently a groomsman in our wedding and was mighty handsome!

Ratings

Abby was great - my dog, Wrigley, and hers got along very well, and Wrigley came home tired and happy. Wrigley has some allergies and needs meds and separated food, and Abby dealt with that wonderfully.

Abby took care of my Aussie for several days while I was in Charlotte. Let it be said that this is no easy feat! Fifa was only 5 months at the time and was born deaf. In addition to requiring more attention than the average puppy, she is ball of energy & mischeif, but Abby made it look easy. She did a great job and was very flexible when my schedule changed. I'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable sitter! (Collapse)
Abby is by far the first person I would call to take care of my animals. Her love for animals is something she is known for. It can be seen in the way she interacts with her own pets as well as the connections she makes when first meeting a new dog or cat. Her bubbly personality and strong sense of responsibility and loyalty go a long way in befriending people and canines alike.
I have had the pleasure of working with Abby. She's an extremely dedicated and hard worker. I've always enjoyed working with her. Abby's pets were well behaved when they stayed with my pets, and she took very good care of my cat when I went out of town. I work at a vet clinic, and I can tell she has a passion for caring for animals. She's a nice, honest person, and I highly recommend her! (Collapse)
